This thing thrusted upon us that we didn’t even ask for
Its burdens, and pains, its tears and disaster
The ironies and fallacies; full of lies and deceit
Heart breaks and tears; victories that end in defeat
Show me your happiest moment, and I’ll give you a million ways in which that will soon change
Your strength is also your weakness; your hope your despair; your confidant your potential enemy; love for many is nothing more than a fairytale.
While some dine in intemperance, others can’t remember the taste of food;
The wealth and riches of the opulent; the nakedness and starvation of those beyond poor
Have you ever stopped and wondered; cried tears for this thing we’re into?
Have you ever found you’ve got more questions than answers, and realize there’s no city of refuge to run to?
Ever had the walls close in around you, and feel like you’re about to take your last breath,
Only to realize you want so badly to escape your life, you’d welcome even death?
Sinking…Sinking…not wanting to rise again…
Sinking…Sinking…only to start realizing a couple of things
Like being brought down to your knees by the chains and weights that bind you
Is the perfect place to talk the Saviour, who sacrificed His life to free you;
Like having your heart ripped apart by the things and people you adored
Is the ideal time to give it to the Cardiologist who not only heals but also restores;
Realizing that wishing on stars do not brings yours dreams any nearer
Creates the opportunity for you to understand that those dreams can become your reality through prayer
You see life without Him has no meaning- it’s a dark and dismal place;
But with Him even amidst the mourning there’s rejoicing, knowing you’re saved and sanctified by His grace.
For when I am weak, He is El Shaddai- The Lord God Almighty
And when I am sick, He is Jehovah Rapha- The loving Physician who will heal me
When I face insurmountable challenges He is El Elyon- The Most High
And I know that I know that I am not alone, for He is also Jehovah Shammah – My Lord Who is always nigh
Nigh there to guide my steps, Jehovah Raah- He is my Shepherd
And He will be so for eternity, El Olam- He is the Everlasting God
When the going get hungry, He provides for me- He is Jehovah Jireh
And because He is also Jehovah Shalom, I won’t lose my mind, for His Peace keeps me together.
Jehovah Shabaoth- the Lord of Hosts; Jehovah Nissi- He is my Banner
Jehovah Mekoddishkem- He sanctifies me; Adonnai- He is my Lord and Master
Elohim- He is God! The One who’s in charge; He still sits above the canopy
YAHWEH- He is JEHOVAH! The I AM that I AM- The God who IS all things to me
I know it is hard; I too almost gave up; but how can I when He is my all in all?
It looks bleak and dark, but He’s my Flicker of Hope, and I can’t wait to hear His loving call:
“It’s time to go home; this life is ended; your eternal vacation begins now
For you stayed true to my Word; you brightened your corner and I’m keeping my part of the vow
A new day has begun. Death has died. This is what I intended life to be
Come my child; your title is clear; today begins eternity…”
Don’t you want that too? Won’t it all be worth it, if at the end of this life that came next?
We won’t even remember our afflictions; pain will be forgotten in a world where everything is finally fixed
Just hold onto your faith my brother; it’s hard but keep trusting my sister
This life is not where we belong
A new day is dawning; Jesus is coming; LIFE truly begins on that great morn
